During the Vocational training scheme there will be regular (six monthly) reviews to check that doctors are making satisfactory progress. For most candidates, this will relate to the competencies and curriculum areas outlined by the Workplace Based Assessment (or ePortfolio).
At the end of training there will be a full appraisal, very similar in style to that undertaken on an annual basis by established general practitioners, where evidence is required under various headings including ‘good clinical care’, ‘maintaining good medical practice’, ‘relationships with patients’, ‘relationships with colleagues’, ‘health’ and ‘probity’.
